Riftlands
Expedition Guide
Enter dangerous biomes, choose your path, battle creatures above level 100, and capture Rift-powered cards unavailable in normal exploration.
What Are the Riftlands?
The Riftlands Expedition is a personal adventure mode for advanced players. Every expedition takes place on a branching map with battles, treasure, healing, mystery events, environmental dangers and a boss encounter at the end.
Discover powerful creatures above the standard exploration range.
Other players cannot steal your encounters or expedition rewards.
Every creature caught in the Riftlands receives the Rift Tag bonus.
How to Start Exploring
Ashen Crater becomes available after your player has unlocked access to the Dark Rift.
Defeating Trinity awards a Rift Beacon, which is required to enter Ashen Crater.
Bring a living, powerful active creature and make sure you have room available for any creature you want to catch.
Choose your available biome, spend the required Beacon and begin your personal expedition.
Available Biomes
Ashen Crater
A volcanic wasteland of lava fissures, ash storms and molten predators.
Stormgrave Peaks
A deadly storm kingdom of lightning-charged beasts and broken mountain paths.
How the Map Works
Each run begins with a standard creature encounter. After resolving it, select one of two branches: a tougher combat route with a healing node, or a reward route with treasure and mystery risks. Both routes lead to the biome boss and then the exit.

| Route | What You Face | Recommended For |

Ashen Crater Nodes
Creature Trail — Starting Encounter
Your expedition begins with a standard Rift encounter. Possible creatures include Emberjaw and Ashscale Drake. Once the encounter is resolved, you choose your route.
Elite Den — Combat Route
A stronger encounter node featuring Cinderfang or Molten Warden. These creatures are classified as Rift Elite.
Ember Spring — Recovery Node
Reached after clearing Elite Den. Your active creature is restored to full HP before continuing toward Titan Crater.
Ashen Cache — Treasure Route
Provides Coins, a Net and possible Essence rewards. At Riftlands Rank 3, the Cache earns enhanced treasure bonuses.
Smoke Veil — Mystery Node
A risky node that may grant treasure or healing, trigger a trap, or reveal a creature encounter. It can uncover the rare Pyre Serpent.
Titan Crater — Boss Encounter
Home of Cindermaw, Ashen Titan, a level 150 Rift Boss. Cindermaw has massive boss-only stat boosts and must be reduced to 1 HP before it can be captured.
Exit Portal — Complete the Run
Exit after resolving Titan Crater to complete Ashen Crater, earn +100 Rift XP, and receive a Charged Rift Beacon when the boss was cleared.
Battle and Capture Controls
Attack
Damage the wild creature with your active card. Wild creatures counterattack if they survive. Do not defeat normal, Elite, Rare or Legendary creatures you want to capture.
Catch
Attempt to catch the current creature without using a Net. Capture odds become better as the creature loses HP.
Use Net
Consume one Net for an improved catch attempt. Save Nets for valuable Elite, Rare, Boss or Legendary encounters.
Leave Expedition
End the current expedition safely. Captures and collected rewards remain yours, but completion XP and exit rewards are lost.

Environmental Conditions
Every expedition rolls one visible environmental condition. That condition stays active for the entire run and should influence which path you choose.
| Condition | Effect | Best Approach |
|---|---|---|
| Lava Surge | Every non-exit node entered damages your active creature for 8% of its max HP. | Use the Elite Route so Ember Spring heals you before the boss. |
| Ash Storm | Non-boss catch chances are reduced by 15%. | Save Nets for captures you truly want. |
| Molten Vein | Treasure grants bonus Coins and Essence; Smoke Veil rare odds improve. | Take Ashen Cache → Smoke Veil. |

Rift Collection Log
Every captured Riftlands creature is added to your collection log. Your log tracks total captures, unique species, biome captures and prestige categories.

Common biome creatures found on standard encounter nodes.

Stronger creatures generally found along combat-focused routes.
Rift Rare
Harder-to-find creatures uncovered through mystery exploration.
Boss / Legendary
Boss-exclusive or ultra-rare creatures worthy of Global Chat announcements.
Community Milestones
Riftlands runs are personal, but major achievements are celebrated in Global Chat. Milestone announcements are triggered when a player:
Discovers a Legendary
The community sees when a legendary Rift encounter appears.
Captures a Legendary
Legendary captures earn a highlighted milestone announcement.
Captures a Boss
Catching Cindermaw or Voltaris is publicly celebrated.
Clears a Biome Boss Run
Finishing a boss-cleared expedition announces the achievement.
Explorer Tips
Prepare Before Entering
Bring your strongest active creature, verify it has enough HP, and leave party space open for new Rift captures.
Choose a Path Based on the Condition
Damaging conditions make the recovery route safer. Reward-boosting conditions make treasure and mystery nodes much more valuable.
Protect Valuable Catch Chances
Normal, Elite, Rare and Legendary encounters can be defeated before you capture them. Weaken creatures carefully and save Nets for special discoveries.
Know When to Leave
If you capture something rare but your active creature is nearly defeated, leaving safely protects your capture even though you forfeit completion XP.
